Burkina Faso Validates National AI Roadmap 2026-2030
Ouagadougou has validated a five-year national artificial intelligence roadmap intended to guide public-sector adoption and digital-sovereignty planning through 2030.

Burkina Faso's Ministry of Digital Transition validated its National Artificial Intelligence Roadmap 2026-2030 on June 17, 2026, following a multi-stakeholder review involving government technical staff, academics, and private-sector representatives in Ouagadougou.
The roadmap sets out priority axes for AI governance, data infrastructure, and workforce readiness, and makes artificial intelligence one pillar of the country's broader digital-transformation strategy under the transitional government's economic-sovereignty agenda.
Officials framed the roadmap as a foundation for future sector-specific AI initiatives, including in agriculture, health, and public administration, with implementation to be phased over the next several years subject to funding and technical-capacity constraints.
The validation places Burkina Faso among a growing number of West African nations formalizing national AI strategies, following similar efforts elsewhere in the region.
