Comoros Holds First-Ever AI Forum in Moroni

Comoros held its first-ever artificial intelligence forum in Moroni in 2026, organized by local technology firm Zynbusiness with sponsorship from the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and the Digital Economy.

The forum brought together local entrepreneurs, students, and government representatives for sessions on AI fundamentals, practical applications, and opportunities for Comorian businesses to adopt AI tools, marking the archipelago nation's first dedicated public event focused specifically on artificial intelligence.

Organizers positioned the event as a starting point for building local AI awareness and skills, distinct from the country's broader digital-infrastructure initiatives such as the Comores Numérique 2028 program, which has focused primarily on connectivity and data-centre development rather than AI specifically.

The ministry's involvement points to early government interest in supporting AI-focused capacity building, even as Comoros' formal AI policy framework remains at an early stage compared with some regional peers.
