Egypt and Intel Partner on National AI Skills Programme

Egypt is partnering with Intel on a national artificial intelligence skills programme that aims to train one million citizens each year over the next three years.

The initiative was formalised through a memorandum of understanding between Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and Intel. It will focus on AI literacy, technical skills and responsible use of the technology. The agreement was signed by Hoda Baraka, advisor to the ICT minister for technology talent development and acting director of the Egyptian Centre for Responsible AI, and Taha Khalifa, Intel’s general manager for the Middle East and Africa.

The programme will offer foundational AI and creative-thinking training for young people, as well as courses aimed at improving the labour-market readiness of technical and university students. Employees and job-seekers will receive reskilling and upskilling opportunities, while government leaders will be trained in technology-enabled decision-making.

It will also include a Training of Trainers programme, with plans to train 1,500 instructors over three years. The collaboration forms part of Egypt’s 2025–2030 National AI Strategy. The country is targeting 30,000 deep-tech and AI specialists by 2030, while the ICT sector is expected to contribute 7.7% of GDP by that year.

The training will be delivered through Intel’s “AI for Citizens” programme and will include technical workshops on Intel’s AI infrastructure and computing technologies. Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology said responsible-AI awareness would be integrated into the wider training programme, covering both the opportunities and risks associated with the technology.
