Gabon Hosts AI Days Libreville to Advance National Strategy

Gabon held AI Days 2026 in Libreville, a national gathering bringing together government officials, researchers and private-sector participants to discuss the country's progress on artificial intelligence policy and adoption.

Building on early groundwork

The event followed Gabon's 2024 UNESCO AI Readiness Assessment and the formation of a national AI technical committee, giving the country an institutional base to build discussions around rather than starting from a blank slate. Sessions covered topics including AI governance, infrastructure needs and sector-specific applications relevant to Gabon's economy, which remains heavily dependent on oil and timber.

A recurring national forum

Officials described AI Days as intended to become a recurring fixture on Gabon's policy calendar, giving the country a regular checkpoint for tracking its AI strategy's progress and for coordinating between government ministries, universities and the private sector on emerging AI issues.
