Heca Data Plans Hyperscale Data-Centre Zone In Egypt

Heca Data is planning an integrated zone for hyperscale data centres in Egypt, adding to the country’s growing push to position itself as a regional digital infrastructure hub.

Hyperscale data centres are designed for large cloud, platform and enterprise workloads. Their relevance to AI is straightforward: modern AI systems depend on compute-heavy infrastructure, reliable connectivity and facilities that can support high-density equipment at scale.

Egypt has several advantages in this race. Its geographic position links Africa, the Middle East and Europe, while submarine cable routes and domestic connectivity give it a strategic role in regional data flows. For developers, that makes Egypt a potential location not only for local demand, but also for cross-border services.

The planned zone points to a shift in how African AI infrastructure is being discussed. The conversation is no longer limited to applications, startups or skills. It increasingly includes the physical layer: power, cooling, fibre, land, regulation and the ability to host demanding workloads locally.
