UNDP Backs New Round of AI Training for Young Congolese in Brazzaville
A UNDP-supported workshop on artificial intelligence, research and scientific production ran 21-22 August 2026 in Brazzaville, part of a widening push to build AI skills among Congolese youth.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) backed a new round of artificial intelligence training for young Congolese, held in Brazzaville on 21-22 August 2026 under the theme "Intelligence artificielle, recherche et production scientifique."
The workshop, organised with the Univ 2.0 association, drew Congolese students and early-career researchers for hands-on sessions on using AI tools in academic and scientific research work. It forms part of a broader UNDP-Congo digital-skills partnership that has run parallel to the government's national AI strategy process launched in May 2026.
Organisers said the training aimed to close gaps in practical AI literacy among university students, many of whom have had limited prior exposure to AI tools in their coursework. The session builds on earlier UNDP-backed digital-skills programming in Brazzaville and comes as Congolese officials have pointed to expanding fibre-optic and 5G rollout as easing access to generative AI tools in Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire through 2026.
No details have yet been released on whether the training will be repeated on a regular schedule or expanded to other Congolese cities.
