Senegal, UNDP Launch Digital Governance Partnership and $1M Innovation Hub

Senegal and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) launched a digital governance partnership on April 27, 2026, alongside a $1 million UNIPOD innovation hub intended to strengthen the country's digital public infrastructure and support the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence in government services.

The partnership focuses on building institutional capacity for digital governance, including data protection frameworks and AI-readiness within public administration. UNIPOD, the innovation hub established as part of the initiative, is intended to function as an incubator for civic-tech and public-sector digital projects, with an initial funding commitment of $1 million.

### Part of a wider public digital infrastructure push

The launch is consistent with Senegal's broader approach in 2026 of pairing AI ambitions with international development partners, following its early membership in the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence. Officials described the hub as a vehicle for testing digital government services, including AI-assisted public administration tools, before wider rollout.

The initiative adds to a growing list of Senegalese digital-governance projects launched through the year, reinforcing Dakar's position as one of the more institutionally active governments in West Africa on AI and digital public infrastructure policy.
