Lesotho Concludes AI Strategy Workshop With Data Centre Implementation Roadmap
The five-day Maseru workshop closed with a focus on turning Lesotho's draft National AI Strategy into a concrete data centre implementation roadmap and next-step partnerships.

Lesotho's National AI Strategy and Data Centre Blueprint Workshop concluded in Maseru on August 21, 2026, after five days of sessions convened by the Ministry of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation with the United Nations in Lesotho.
The government said the final day of the workshop focused on developing a data centre implementation roadmap, setting priorities, strengthening partnerships and identifying next steps toward what officials described as a responsible, inclusive and sustainable digital future for the country.
The workshop had been facilitated throughout by the United Nations Office of Digital and Emerging Technologies (UN ODET) and the UN-supported AI Capacity Development Network, alongside partner UN agencies, building on the keynote address Deputy Prime Minister Nthomeng Majara delivered at the opening session.
With the workshop closed, Lesotho's next milestone is translating the roadmap into a published national strategy document and beginning implementation of the data centre infrastructure plan the sessions were designed to scope.
