Libya's General Authority for Information (GIA) hosted an extensive meeting to launch the executive initiatives of the country's National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, moving the strategy from its June 2026 launch ceremony toward concrete implementation.

The meeting brought together officials responsible for translating the strategy's six pillars, governance and leadership, legislation and ethics, digital infrastructure and data, human capacities and education, innovation and priority sectors, and monitoring and evaluation, into specific executive initiatives and timelines.

GIA's role reflects its position overseeing the Digital Lab established with support from Expertise France, making the authority a central coordinating body for Libya's AI implementation efforts alongside the ministries responsible for individual pillar areas.

The initiative-launch meeting represents a distinct milestone from the original strategy announcement, signalling that Libya's AI programme has moved into an operational phase focused on execution rather than policy design.
