Seychelles Cabinet Approves National AI in Education Framework Through 2030

Seychelles' Cabinet approved a National AI in Education Framework covering 2026-2030 in late July 2026, State House Seychelles confirmed, setting a five-year roadmap for introducing artificial intelligence tools and literacy into the country's education system.

The framework is designed to guide how AI is incorporated into curricula, teacher training, and school administration across Seychelles' public education system. It follows a period of consultation involving the Ministry of Education and other government bodies, and positions Seychelles among the smaller island states in the Indian Ocean region moving to formalise AI policy for schools.

Officials have framed the framework as part of a wider effort to prepare Seychellois students for an economy increasingly shaped by digital and AI tools, while also addressing concerns around responsible and equitable AI use in classrooms.

The approval came in the same year that Seychelles' government engaged with AI policy at the international level, including participation in global AI summits, suggesting a coordinated push to build both domestic policy and international partnerships around artificial intelligence.
