The UNESWA AI Academy, a Centre of Excellence within the University of Eswatini's Faculty of Science and Engineering, marked a milestone of 400 graduates on June 19, 2026, at a Certificate Awarding Ceremony held at the George Hotel in Manzini.

The graduates completed the Academy's "Mastering Generative AI for Professionals" programme, part of a broader mandate to build awareness of AI opportunities and risks while equipping citizens and institutions in Eswatini with future-ready digital skills. The Academy was established in August 2024 and has steadily expanded its cohort sizes since then, with an earlier ceremony in mid-2026 recognising 200 graduates before the programme reached the 400-graduate milestone weeks later.

The Academy's growth reflects a wider push by the University of Eswatini to position itself as a regional hub for applied AI training, complementing government efforts including the Ministry of ICT's planned National AI Strategy and partnerships explored with the United Nations to apply AI toward sustainable development goals.
