Guinea Validates National AI Roadmap Spanning 2026-2035

Guinea's Ministry in charge of Information and Communication Technologies validated a national artificial intelligence roadmap covering the 2026-2035 period on December 20, 2025, following a workshop held the previous day in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Guinea became the first francophone country to adopt the AILA (Artificial Intelligence Landscape Assessment) methodology, a step officials presented as a milestone in building a national framework for AI governance.

The roadmap is structured around three successive phases: establishing institutional, regulatory and technical foundations, including data governance and skills development; the gradual introduction of AI solutions into public services to improve government efficiency; and, in its final phase, establishing Guinea as a regional reference for responsible and strategic uses of artificial intelligence.

The roadmap's adoption set the stage for a series of follow-on initiatives in 2026, including the DouIA2 initiative and the AI Xcelerate business adoption programme, as Guinea's government under President Mamadi Doumbouya moves to fold AI policy into its broader Simandou 2040 development strategy.
